Bud Bushnell founded Genie Industries during the year 1966, after he bought the manufacturing rights to a material lift which functioned on compressed air. The name Genie originated from the "magic in the bottle" that was used to raise and lower the hoist. This mechanism greatly impressed lots of customers and thus, the name was born.
Genie has moved into many new markets, as the need for lifts and work platforms grew. Over time, as the requirements for new machines to meet numerous applications grew, the company made itself known in numerous new markets. For example, Genie went into production with stick booms, telehandlers, articulated booms, light towers and man-lifts.
Genie decided to secure a partner who had the same values because of the economic downturn during the start of the 2000s, when they partnered along with Terex. This company has a history obtaining equipment manufacturers throughout the world who proved to be a good business match. Genie Industries was sold in the year 2002 and became a part of Terex Corporation.
Because of the Genie name and its solid reputation within the workplace, it was determined to maintain the Genie brand as part of the Terex Aerial Work Platforms. This was just decided after the first few years following the sale. Therefore, all Genie machinery continue to be marketed under the Genie brand.
The company takes great pride in taking advice from and listening to their customers. Genie has always been continually dedicated to improving the efficiency and quality in addition to minimizing wastes. Even long after the sale has been closed, the company concentrates on offering outstanding support. These are the very work practices which have made Genie a trusted brand over the past decades and continue to keep their reputation for top-of-the-line and quality equipment.
Genie's Bi-Energy and DC equipment are emission-free, quiet equipment capable of working in delicate work settings. Where the machine should be driven significant distances, like for instance in industrial situations, the Genie bi-energy system combines the advantages of a 48V DC machine with the power of a diesel-powered generator.
Compared to any of the various types of aerial platforms, telescopic booms provide more horizontal reach overall. These machines are great for limited access areas in construction and other industrial environments. The Genie Telescopic S booms have been engineered to offer utmost productivity. These machines provide supreme traction and the drive speed you require to be able to travel around the work site and job area.
