When the time comes to pick the suitable warehouse truck, it is a great idea to figure out how high you intend to lift your cargo, how much you need to lift, how much space you need to work in and how far you want to travel. These considerations will influence your purchasing decision and help decipher which type of forklift truck is the best one out there to meet your requirements and meet your whole expectations.
Normal Aisles
The most inexpensive trucks are pedestrian stackers. These machines are great for working in normal width aisles and finishing ordinary stacking jobs inside a warehouse. They are capable of easily lifting cargo of less than 750kg and can stack them to heights of approximately 4.5 metres. One more model known as rider stackers can successfully raise loads to approximately 6 metres.
Reach trucks are yet a different alternative to think about. They give you much greater lift and load capacities and some models come complete with telescopic forks. This feature enables you the ability of stacking pallets two deep. For extra flexibility in goods handling, there is a multi-way and a 4-way reach truck which as the name implies, could be driven in four directions. These models are particularly suitable for handling large and long objects like planks, boards and piping.
The counterbalance line of trucks is suitable for traveling longer distances. They are a great alternative for stacking jobs, particularly block stacking. They are also an ideal alternative for stacking cargo that weigh more than 2 tonnes and free stacking.
A Tight Squeeze
If you are working in a high-density storage operation, the aisle space will normally be much narrower and the heights you will want to reach to would potentially be a lot higher. Man-up telescopic lift trucks work well in high-bay, narrow aisle stores. They offer the operator or driver a good view of the stacking process. There are other kinds called man-up combi trucks. These are fairly versatile in that they could be used for both order- picking and stacking jobs. They can be used in narrow aisles or driven all around the warehouse.
