The Carriage
The carriage is similar to a conventional forklift because the lifting attachment can be tilted forwards and backwards from its horizontal. The tilt which is possible on this equipment exceeds more than that of the vertical masts. There are various types of available lifting attachments, and this positioning ability makes them as effective as possible.
Most telehandlers could tilt forward to a point where the carriage is actually parallel with the ground believe it or not! Additionally, lots of units offer rotating carriages too. This enables the operator to adjust the lifting attachment radially. This translates to the load being capable of being tilted backwards and forwards, and side to side.
Load Capacity
Figuring out a telehandler's load capacity is a much different exercise than it is on a vertical mast unit. The capacity of the model is entirely dependent on such things as: the amount of boom transaction deployed, if this is applicable and boom extension and angle, whether the unit is lifting on outriggers or on rubber tires. In addition, which lifting attachment plays an important role, as does the wind, the grade the equipment is operating on etc. All of these specifics can be changing on a regular basis and this gives the operator a lot more information to think about.
Telehandlers would often have several different load charts available to them, giving them a good reference they can use to know a particular lift's load capacity. Depending on the model in particular and the configuration of the boom, the load capacity may vary by thousands of pounds all together.
