In the year 1842, Inventor Jerome Increase Case established Case in Racine. He began making threshing equipment. The company later gained worldwide recognition as the first builder of steam engines for its agricultural application. Eventually, the company grew to become the world's biggest producers of steam engines.
By 1912, Case had become established in the construction machinery business. The rapidly started to make road building equipment such as steam rollers and graders. Case grew their construction equipment company through various acquisitions, beginning with the American Tractor Corporation during 1957. Case had expanded their business by the middle part of the 1990s to become the top producer of light-sized to medium-sized construction machinery.
Case merged with the company New Holland in 1999 and together they became CNH Global. This corporation became responsible for marketing some of the globe's leading brands of construction and agricultural machines.
