Forklift Tire Specs
Ever since 1917, important tools utilized within commercial businesses and industry are forklifts. Throughout its history the forklift has evolved through different forms, from a simple tractor with a platform attachment to a specialized high-tech machine. Forklift tires have also evolved into particular tires, with different types designed to suit particular functions.
Cushion (Solid) Tires
A cushion tire is constructed of rubber or solid polyurethane and is best for indoor applications on smooth surfaces. The cushion tire tread is pressed or binded onto the tire's steel ring. Cushion tires are rated for various load capacities and for ease of steering. Cushion tires are commonly utilized within warehouse settings.
Pneumatic Tires
Pneumatic forklift tires are filled with air or foam. They come in two kinds: radial or bias. Depending on the application, they are offered with different tread depths, weight and sidewall protection. Foam-filled pneumatic forklift tires maintain constant pressures and are less prone to punctures. Pneumatic tires are usually utilized outdoors on surfaces which are rough and uneven.
Pneumatic Shaped Solid/Solid Pneumatic
The comfortable ride that pneumatic tires provide together with the puncture resistance which solid tires provide are the combined features of Solid Pneumatic Hybrid Tires. They are an alternative to the outdoor pneumatic tire.
Large Rubber and Flotation Tires
Big rubber tires, which can either be solid, pneumatic or foam, are used on wheel loader forklifts. These types of tires are best for loading and transporting heavy things into processing equipment or onto trucks. Big flotation pneumatic tires are suited for masted rough terrain forklifts usually used at lumberyards, construction sites and auto recyclers.
